Brittany or "la Bretagne" in French, is located in the west of France.

People from Brittany are very proud to be "Breton", instead of French. Strong celtic culture is present here. Lorient hosts a big celtic festival every August. Nantes was capital city for Brittany until 1941. Rennes takes over as Brittany's capital city, while Nantes becomes capital city of "Pays de la Loire". However, the Breton will always tell you that Nantes is in Brittany, one of the arguement is because that the castle of the queen "Château des ducs du Bretagne" is located in Nantes. When you drive from Brittany entering Nantes, you will see the signboard indicating that you are entering "Pay de la Loire" is crossed out and replaced by "Bretagne", an action that indicate Nantes is in Brittany. Highways in Brittany are free, an agreement between the Brittany Queen Anne and the French government when Brittany was included in France.
